Mate is a sacred plant of the Guarani Indians in Paraguay and Argentina, where it has a long history of use for its health-promoting effects. Mate is naturally energising and stimulating with a much lower caffeine content than coffee.

Directions for use

• Use 1 tsp per mug of 100°C hot water
• Infuse for 3 min

About Mate
Mate is a traditional South American drink that is derived from the yerba mate plant. It has been associated with many benefits. In addition to having highly nutritious content and anti-inflammatory properties, Mate is also packed with antioxidants. These are molecules that are thought to have many benefits due to their ability to fight free radicals, unstable molecules that contribute to a number of conditions. Mate also has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and energising properties. 

Guarani natives were the first to use Yerba Mate to prepare drinks. They also used it for other purposes, such as cult and currency. When European colonizers arrived, the consumption of Mate spread to other areas of the American continent first and of the world later.
