Give your Living space a new lease of life for the New Year

Now that the festive season is drawing to a close & the decorations are packed away, it just won’t feel as magical without those twinkling lights. Worst of all we’re still in the depths of Winter, with dark evenings and blustery weather.

But it’s not all bad, the New Year brings its own form of magic, it marks an exciting new beginning with so much to look forward to. No matter what your plans are for the New Year, perhaps you’ve a ‘New Year, New Me’ plan, perhaps not, either way, it’s likely you’ll be spending plenty evenings indoors, so why not make it as comfortable and welcoming as possible.

We’ve put together our top tips on how to make your home feel cosy & inviting even after the decorations are gone.

1. Lighting

Chase away the dark evenings with indoor lighting, a lamp can not only light up your space, but it can be a beautiful addition to your room. A traditional lamp and shade will shine bright, or maybe something more contemporary, which will bathe your room in gentle light would be appropriate. Perhaps you prefer the flicker of a candle, which are often associated with hope, and bringing light into the dark.

2. Aromatherapy Diffusers

Scent is proven to have an effect on our mood. Use a diffuser to fill your space with a fragrance that relaxes and calms, or maybe you’d prefer something to boost your mood and motivate you to stay on track with your New Year Resolutions. Diffusers helps to humidify the air & reduce dust while delivering the perfect amount of fragrance.

3. Throws & Cushions

Soft furnishings can really change the look of a room with minimal effort. If you’re missing all of the colours when the Christmas decorations come down, try adding a new throw or cushions to your living space, you’ll be amazed at the result. A colourful lambswool throw promises to deliver a splash of colour and keep you cosy too.

4. A Little Extra Heat

We don’t know about you, but we love nothing more than a hot water bottle to keep us extra warm. Curling up on the couch after a long day with a hot water bottle to keep the toes toasty . . . nothing better.

5. Plants

Bringing plants into your home adds a more homely feel, and depending on your choice plants, they can help increase the oxygen and air quality in your living space. Alternatively, opt for a flowering plant that adds a splash of colour.

6. Artwork

Lastly, why not invest in a new piece of wall art? Choose a piece that means something to you, reminds you of a fun day out or something that just makes you smile. Whatever you choose, rest assured it's going to add a new lease of life to your living room.
